What is Anadrol?

Anadrol (Oxymetholone) is an oral anabolic steroid derived from DHT.

In our experience, Anadrol is the most powerful oral steroid for bodybuilding.

Anadrol, also known as Atombomb or Oxy, is primarily used by bodybuilders in the off-season (when bulking up); Significant increase in muscle size and strength.

Anadrol first appeared in 1959 when it was studied for research purposes by a pharmaceutical company called Syntex.They found that Anadrol is an effective treatment for anemia, osteoporosis and diseases that cause muscle wasting, such as HIV/AIDS.

Two years later, oxymetholone became available in the United Kingdom under the brand name Anapolon. Other brands have also becomeestablished, notably Adroyd and Anadrol (available in the USA).

In the early 1960s, Anadrol was widely used for cosmetic purposes by bodybuilders.

As the acute side effects of Anadrol became increasingly known, the FDA restricted the prescription of oxymetholone in the mid-1970s. Bodybuilders could no longer obtain Anadrol from their doctors as it was now primarily prescribed to patients with anemia.

Anadrol is one of the few steroids still approved by the FDA for medical use,along with Anavar, Testosterone and Deca Durabolin.

Anadrol is probably the best steroid in terms of weight gain and rapid muscle building of the user. This makes it a particularly sought-after supplement for slim men who are aiming for big gains.

The weight we see after using Anadrol is usually muscle and fluid retention.

It is not uncommon for users to gain up to 10 pounds in the first week ofusing Anadrol. By the sixth week, weight gain can reach 30 pounds. About half is probably water.

Since Anadrol transports a lot of water into the muscle cells, a muscle pump in the gym can be described as a “skin tear”.Push-ups can become so awkward that they become a problem. Some users describe lower back push-ups as painful.

Muscle strengthening

Anadrol will take a bodybuilder’s muscle size to a whole new level as it ismore than three times more anabolic than testosterone.
Part of this size is due to the temporary retention of intracellular fluid,which causes the muscles to appear permanently swollen.
However, we note that the gains in muscle mass when using Anadrol continue to be significant due to the rapid increase in testosterone levels, protein synthesis and increased nitrogen retention.

Scientists consider Anadrol “one of the most powerful muscle-building steroids ever developed,” and in studies, participants gained 14.5 pounds of muscle for every 100 pounds of body weight (2).

However, these results are based on high doses over a longer period of time, so the results will be slightly lower for bodybuilders if they use a shorter cycle and more careful dosing.

Anecdotally, we find that 18 pounds of muscle mass is common in the first 6 week Anadrol cycle. This accounts for about 60% of your total weight gain.

Increases strength
We have found that Anadrol is one of the most commonly used steroids in powerlifting and strongman circles. This is due to simple weight gain and a massive increase in testosterone levels.

We have seen users gain 15 pounds on the bench press in the first 10 days after using Anadrol.

At the end of a cycle, Anadrol can add about 60 pounds to a user’s squats,deadlifts, and bench presses.

Typically, the strength gain from these compound exercises is twice as highas the body weight gain when using Anadrol.

strength levels can decrease by 40% after one cycle, which is the same amount of weight loss.

Oral form
Anadrol 50 is basically a 50 mg tablet. Therefore, no injection is required to reap the benefits of this steroid.

Injections can be very dangerous if the person does not know what they are doing. One of the most common injection sites is the buttocks, which can cause sciatic nerve damage and paralysis if used incorrectly (3).

Injections even when done safely, can be uncomfortable, which isn’t ideal when administering steroids with short half-lives (such as Anadrol), which require frequent injections.

Injecting into the buttocks may also mean users have to rely on friends or family to inject them.

Despite orals being more convenient and easier to take, there are drawbacks to taking pills, which will be detailed in the side effects section.

Joint Support
We have found Anadrol to be somewhat healthy for the joints, due to its water-retaining properties.

It lubricates the joints, increasing elasticity and decreasing inflammation or/and joint pain.

So if a bodybuilder has joint problems, it may be better to take steroids such as Anadrol or Deca Durabolin instead of, for example, Winstrol; The latter drains the water away and leads to greater wear on the seals.

fat loss
Some people believe that Anadrol causes an increase in fatty tissue; However, this is not correct.

All anabolic steroids, including Anadrol, are different types of exogenous testosterone.
Testosterone
builds muscle and burns fat. So different steroids build muscle and burn fat to different degrees.

Two studies show that Anadrol at a dose of 100 mg per day causes the burning of significant amounts of subcutaneous fat (4, 5).

The reason Anadrol can cause an increase in fatty tissue is water retention. Bloating and bloating caused by excess fluid can make you feel like youhave more body fat.

Because it is a bulking steroid, users are likely to combine Anadrol with a high-calorie diet, resulting in fat gain and further water retention. However, this is related to a person’s diet and is not directly related to Anadrol itself.
Therefore, a calorie-maintaining diet does not lead to the accumulation of subcutaneous fat.
However,
Anadrol and other steroids can lead to an increase in visceral fat (6). This is not fat that you can pinch around your stomach, but rather that is located inside and surrounds the organs.

Side effects
In general, the better the results you get with steroids, the more serious the side effects. While Anadrol offers some of the best strength and size gains we have ever seen, it is also a very aggressive steroid. It is therefore not recommended for beginners.

Common Anadrol side effects we see:

Liver toxicity
High blood pressure
water retention
Gynecomastia (possibility)
Deactivates testosterone
hair loss
acne
Increased risk of injury
Decreased well-being
Liver toxicity
One of our main concerns with Anadrol is that it is hepatotoxic.

It is a c17-alpha-alkylated compound, which essentially protects Anadrol from being deactivated via the liver. This allows a very high amount of Anadrol to remain active in the bloodstream when taken orally.
However, like all C17-alpha-alkylated steroids, they put a strain on the liver.

Anadrol has a saturated A-ring that slightly reduces its toxicity; However,research confirms that liver health can worsen at high doses.

In a 2003 study, 89 men and women infected with HIV/AIDS took 100 to 150mg of Anadrol daily for 16 weeks (7).

In 25% of the 100 mg group, ALT/AST liver enzyme activity increased morethan fivefold.

In 43% of the 150 mg group, ALT/AST activity increased more than fivefold.

These results also correlate with our practical experience. Therefore, Anadrol is particularly harmful to the liver when taken in high doses over along period of time.
However,
bodybuilders should have no reason to exceed 100 mg per day since in thisstudy muscle/body weight gain remained essentially the same between the 100 mg and 150 mg groups.

In another study, 31 older men took 50 to 100 mg daily for 12 weeks. No increase in liver enzyme activity was observed in the 50 mg group, whereasa moderate increase in ALT and AST was observed in the 100 mg group (8).However, no cases of hepatomegaly or cholestasis were observed inthe 100 mg group.

A 20-year-old Japanese woman suffering from aplastic anemia was treated with Anadrol at a dose of 30 mg/day for 6 years (an incredibly long time). Despite many changes in the liver, laboratory tests showed that liver function was normal (9). This is surprising considering she has been taking this high dose (for women) for 6 years!

Given the resistance of the liver and the numerous studies on Anadrol abuse not causing liver failure; Moderate use of Anadrol does not appear to cause excessive liver damage.
However, users should still take precautions and use low to moderate doses over relatively short cycles (4 to 6 weeks).

In another study, 28 adults with chronic anemia received a high dose of Anadrol, 5 mg/kg body weight (10).

For men this means doses up to 450 mg per day. Surprisingly, liver toxicity was only observed in less than 10% of patients.

Therefore, the liver toxic effects of Anadrol may be somewhat exaggerated in the bodybuilding community. However, caution is advised as we have observed that high doses and excessive cycles lead to liver complications.

TUDCA
To relieve liver stress while taking Anadrol, we have found that it is helpfulto supplement with TUDCA (tauroursodeoxycholic acid). It is a natural compound found in bile acids produced in the liver.

Natural Healing Effects TUDCA has been used in Chinese medicine for 3,000 years to treat liver diseases; often in the form of bear bile (containsmore than 50% TUDCA).In comparison, only small amounts of TUDCA are found in human bile.

Medical studies have shown that TUDCA is effective in treating chronic active hepatitis.

In one study, 53 patients took 500 mg of TUDCA daily for 3 months (11). It effectively reduced the activity of AST and ALT enzymes within the first month. This effect was spectacular from the third month, with a decrease in AST and ALT enzymes by 44% and 49%, respectively. Patients also reported no side effects.

Therefore, it would be advisable to supplement TUDCA during and/or after your cycle to ensure maximum liver protection.You should also avoidalcohol.

effective TUDCA supplements can be purchased online and typically costbetween $20 and $30. This is an FDA-approved dietary supplement.

High blood pressure
Anadrol is probably the worst anabolic steroid for blood pressure according to our lipid profile tests. All AAS increase blood pressure because exogenous testosterone causes a negative change in cholesterol levels.

This leads to a dramatic increase in LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) and a decrease in HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol).
Studies have shown that Anadrol has a negligible effect on LDL levels but a drastic decrease in HDL levels (12).

In the study cited above, 31 older men who took 50 to 100 mg of Anadrol per day saw a reduction in HDL levels of 19 and 23 points, respectively.

Anadrol also causes an increase in blood pressure due to the dramaticincrease in red blood cells. We observed that Anadrol users had up to fivetimes more red blood cells than a normal human (13).

Consequently, blood can become more viscous, with blood flow to the heart potentially becoming impaired. When a person retains water, the same blood-thickening effect happens, further reducing circulation.

Due to Anadrol’s drastic effect on HDL cholesterol levels, water retention and red blood cell count, it is a steroid that has a very negative effect on the heart.

If you suffer from severe fluid retention, a diuretic may be used to lower blood pressure. However, this leads to less muscle fullness and less strength gains due to less ATP production in the muscle cells.

Users with high blood pressure or a family history of heart disease should avoid using Anadrol.

People thinking about cycling with Anadrol should try to minimize this increase in blood pressure through regular cardio exercise (14). We believe this improves blood circulation, particularly to and from the heart.
Nosebleeds and headaches may occur while taking Anadrol, which may be a sign of increased blood pressure. In this case, get yourself checked and if your blood pressure is very high, stop driving immediately.

Fluid retention and gynecomastia

Anadrol is a derivative of DHT, so it does not aromatize or convert to estrogen.
However, we believe that in real life it is very estrogenic and can cause gynecomastia, water retention and bloating.
It has been theorized that these estrogenic side effects are due to Anadrol acting as a progestin; However, studies show that Anadrol has little effect on progesterone levels.
Instead, Anadrol directly stimulates estrogen receptors like methandriol.
Water retention can be beneficial during a steroid cycle as intracellular fluid can support ATP production and therefore increase muscle strength and size.

However, the disadvantage of water retention is that the muscles appear smooth and their definition decreases. Bloating is a common side effect we see when using Anadrol, especially at high doses or when combined with a high-sodium diet.

Because Anadrol causes significant retention of extracellular fluid, it is not the best steroid for the vessels.

Why Anadrol does not always guarantee water retention
Our patients do not experience significant bloating or water retention while taking Anadrol if their diet is particularly healthy and they are already very lean.

For example, Men’s Physique competitors often get away with taking Anadrol before competitions, which helps them appear extremely full; without water retention or noticeable swelling.

The reason you don’t experience water retention from Anadrol when preparing for a show is because the presence of high estrogen levels does not automatically guarantee water retention.

We found that high estrogen levels simply increase sodium sensitivity. So if a person consumes sodium moderately and takes Anadrol; they will absorb more water.

However, if the bodybuilder consumes low sodium and large amounts of water (as bodybuilders typically do before competitions), sodium levels remain low and therefore increased sodium sensitivity is no longer a problem.
This allows bodybuilders to appear extremely full and slim on stage.

Gino
We have had cases where Anadrol caused gynecomastia by directly stimulating estrogen receptors in the mammary gland.In gynecomastia (gynecomastia), extra tissue begins to form in the male breast.

Mild gynecomastia can resemble swollen nipples, while severe gynecomastia can make a man’s breasts appear feminine.

To prevent estrogenic side effects, we usually prescribe an antiestrogen such as Nolvadex or Clomid.

Note: Aromatase inhibitors such as Arimidex or Cytadren are not effective in reducing estrogenic side effects because Anadrol increases estrogen levels through aromatization (but rather through direct stimulation).

Anadrol has a low androgenic index of 45. This is less than half of the testosterone index.

However, this mild result has no connection to the real world, where Anadrol regularly causes androgenic effects, including hair loss (on the scalp), oily skin, and acne.
This is due to the increased production of sebum by the sebaceous glands. The job of sebum is to moisturize the skin. However, too much of it can clogpores and lead to acne breakouts.

This side effect is often genetically determined. If a person suffered from acne as a teenager, they may be at higher risk.

Anadrol is a steroid derived from DHT, but it is also converted into dihydrotestosterone, the hormone responsible for hair loss on the scalp.

DHT leads to miniaturization of hair follicles, causing them to becomethinner or even fall out. Hair loss is a problem when taking steroids; However, in our experience, it often depends on a person’s genes.

For example, we see some bodybuilders taking Anadrol, Trenbolone and Testosterone together for several months to maintain thick hair.While others may take a mild steroid like Deca and experience significant recession or baldness after just a few cycles.

If you are prone to hair loss, steroids speed up this process. Alternatively, steroids may not cause baldness if hair genetics are strong.

How does Anadrol cause androgenic side effects despite low androgenicity?

In the case of Anadrol, the conversion of DHT does not occur as usual with the participation of the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase.

Anadrol contains only one additional 2-hydroxymethylene group.

Once in the body, it is metabolized and oxymetholone is reduced to 17-alpha-methyldihydrotestosterone (also known as mestanolone or proviron).

17-alpha-methyldihydrotestosterone is a very powerful androgen, which explains why androgenic side effects are possible even when its androgenic index is low.

Since Anadrol is not converted to DHT by the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase, we conclude that drugs such as finasteride are ineffective in treating hair loss. Additionally, reducing DHT levels with such medications may not be in the best interest of the bodybuilder as we have seen decreased strength and muscle growth.

Increased risk of injury
Rapid weight gain after using Anadrol leads to excessive stress on connective tissue. Therefore, we have seen several pectoral and bicepsstrains attributed to Anadrol use.

This is a side effect of the rapid and massive strength gains (+60 pounds on compound exercises).

To reduce the risk of injury, bodybuilders can lift lighter weights and perform more repetitions. This does not affect muscle growth as we have found that lighter weights are just as effective as heavier weights in developing hypertrophy (17).
Additionally, warming up adequately will help your muscles become more flexible and reduce the risk of injury.

Depressed well-being
Some of our patients report that Anadrol causes them mood swings and makes them unhappy. This can be attributed to the effectiveness and toxicity of the steroid, i.e. H. to the combination of liver stress, fluid retention and high blood pressure.

For some people, Anadrol may not cause a lasting feeling of euphoria compared to, for example, Dianabol.This is because Anadrol is a moreaggressive steroid and therefore has more serious side effects.
However,
people who respond well genetically to Anadrol may experience increased well-being due to the massive increase in exogenous testosterone.

Note: In our experience, fluctuations in well-being can also be dose-dependent.
Is
Anadrol safe?
Anadrol remains approved by the FDA for the treatment of anemia in theUnited States.Therefore, Oxymetholone is considered safe when administered under medical supervision.

However, bodybuilders who take Anadrol remain at risk because they are considered healthy individuals when doing so in a non-medical context. This opens the door to Anadrol abuse through high doses and excessive cycling.

Additionally, when Anadrol is taken recreationally, there is no guarantee that it is real Oxymetholone since this steroid is purchased on the black market.

Even though Anadrol has been approved by the FDA, it remains one of the most aggressive steroids we have encountered, according to our lipid profile tests.Therefore, you should pay special attention.

Anadrol for women

He also recommends splitting Anadrol doses throughout the day rather than taking 25 mg all at once.

In another study, women were given oxymetholone to treat anemia and bone marrow failure (20). They started with a dose of 1 mg per kg of bodyweight and then increased this in monthly increments of 50%, up to 100 mg per day. Each woman received a dose of at least 50 mg Anadrol per day.

Only mild side effects were reported.Only four women in the study showed little change in their virilization despite massive doses. These side effects also disappeared after I stopped Anadrol. Anecdotally, we see the same thing in our patients.

12.5 mg-25 mg is considered an effective dose for women who want to achieve significant gains in strength and muscle mass with Anadrol.Compared to the studies mentioned above, these are very low doses, further avoiding the risk of virilization.

Women should also be wary of Anadrol’s toxic effects on the liver.Therefore, women should supplement TUDCA and avoid alcohol.
Is
Anadrol legal?
Anadrol is illegal in most countries (for bodybuilding purposes) unless prescribed by a doctor for medical reasons.

In the United States, Anadrol is classified as a Schedule III controlled substance under the Controlled Substances Act.

Therefore, buying or selling Anadrol could result in a prison sentence if arrested. Possession of Anadrol (or other steroids) is punishable by up to one year in prison and a fine of at least $1,000. Jail sentences and fines areincreased for repeat offenders.

Selling steroids is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $250,000fine. This applies to people committing a crime for the first time. In the event of a repeat offense, the fine and prison sentence can be doubled.

Anadrol can be purchased legally in Mexico and Thailand (although it is an “S-controlled” substance in the latter country).

Anadrol results – before and after transformation
Due to Anadrol’s short esters, it begins to work very quickly.We find that users often feel the strong effects in the first few days.
In our experience, one Anadrol cycle can result in a 30 pound weight gain and a 60 pound strength gain compared to three major compound exercises. Additional cycles may produce better results, especially when combined with other steroids.

Below are the results of a bodybuilder who took Anadrol and Deca Durabolin for a year.

As you can see, his muscles have grown significantly since he started taking Anadrol and Deca Durabolin. He hasn’t really gained any weight, but his muscles appear smoother and tighter thanks to the water retention.

These impressive results are typical after several cycles of Anadrol.

Are Anadrol results long lasting?
We have found that the gains in muscle mass achieved with Anadrol are often permanent.Just over half of the mass a user gains from Anadrol is muscle mass (the rest is water).
So if a person gains 35 pounds during a 6-week cycle, about 20 pounds is lean muscle mass (which remains after stopping steroids).

To increase post-cycle muscle retention, our patients will use effective post-cycle therapy and continue to train hard. Once a person stops lifting weights, the muscle mass gain from Anadrol decreases.

Anadrol injectable vs oral
Some people believe that taking Anadrol in the form of injections does not put any strain on the liver.

But that’s not true. Although it bypasses the liver once it enters the bloodstream, it must be processed by the liver once it leaves the body.

Therefore, we conclude that injectable Anadrol is less hepatotoxic than oral Anadrol; However, this still puts a strain on the body.

With Anadrol Injectable you receive 100% of the effective dose because it is not broken down by the liver.

When used orally, they are alpha-alkylated at C-17, so a very high percentage of the steroid remains active.However, the body does not utilize 100% of the dose.

Additionally, we believe that Anadrol injection is more difficult to obtainthan oral intake. Therefore, using Anadrol injection does not offer any significant advantage over oral Anadrol, apart from a slightly reducedburden on the liver.

Note: Liver stress is not a particular problem with Anadrol when used at a moderate dose/cycle.
Dosage of
Anadrol
Male bodybuilders often take 50 to 100 mg of Anadrol per day for 4 to 8 weeks.

The effective dose for women who want to build muscle is 12.5-25mg per day for 4-6 weeks.

Due to Anadrol’s short half-life of 5-9 hours (21), doses should be split up and taken regularly throughout the day. Anadrol typically contains pills in 50mg doses, thus by using a pill cutter you can give yourself 2-4 doses each day.

Important: Anadrol pills are fat-soluble, therefore eating them with food may decrease their biological availability and hinder results. Thus, for best results take Anadrol on an empty stomach.

The higher the dose, the more side effects the user will experience. Any dose over 100 mg per day increases side effects significantly without providing much benefit to results.

Anadrol stacks and cycles
Anadrol is usually combined with powerful injectable steroids such as Testosterone, Deca Durabolin or Trenbolone.

We find that such structures lead to further increases in mass and strength, but also to increased side effects. The combination of multiple steroids leads to worsening testosterone suppression, cholesterol levels and blood pressure.

Since Anadrol is a particularly aggressive steroid, it would make more sense to combine it with a gentle injectable steroid such as Deca Durabolin compared to Trenbolone. Testosterone is also suitable.

Like Dianabol, Anadrol can be used alone with good results, especially if the user has not used Oxymetholone before.

Once users have developed a tolerance to Anadrol through a single cycle, users can combine it with other steroids.

Here are some examples of Anadrol cycles that bodybuilders use today.

Anadrol cycle only

Anadrol and Testosterone form one of the best pairings we have come across in terms of size, strength and bulking. This battery is only suitable for experienced users.

When testosterone is added, the risk of gynecomastia increases significantly due to higher estrogen levels.Therefore, we typically prescribe a SERM such as Nolvadex in this cycle.
SERMS
(selective estrogen receptor modulators) essentially block the effects of estrogen directly in breast tissue, preventing gynecomastia from occurring.

This is an extreme cycle that allows for incredible size and strength gains. Rich Piana called it his “best series ever” (22). The specific testosterone he used was Sustanon 250 and Trenbolone Acetate.However, he said he doesn’t use this cycle often because it puts a lot of strain on the body.

From a hormonal perspective, we consider this cycle to be very estrogenic and androgenic. Therefore, our patients often take an AI (aromatase inhibitor) to reduce the estrogenic side effects of testosterone. Usually this is letrozole or anastrozole. To prevent direct estrogen stimulation in the mammary gland (from Anadrol), a SERM such as Nolvadex can also be used.
During this cycle, you should perform regular cardio exercises to lower blood pressure while avoiding stimulants and foods rich in sodium.

It is difficult to prevent androgenic effects from occurring; However, we have found that these effects are not particularly harmful to men’s health (like acne or male pattern baldness).

We have yet to come across a steroid trio that offers the same level of strength and mass as this one. It is also one of the worst cycles in terms of side effects.

Anadrol PCT (Post-Cycle Therapy)
PCT should be started immediately after Anadrol leaves the user’s body. We can calculate it using the half-life of Anadrol (8 to 9 hours). To calculate when the drug has completely left the body, multiply the half-life by 5.5, which gives the following sum: 5.5 x 9 hours.the one with the longest half-life.

When using this aggressive PCT, complete regeneration of endogenous testosterone is typically observed after 2 months.

Where do bodybuilders buy Anadrol?
Anadrol is illegal in most countries, so bodybuilders are forced to buy it on the black market.

Anadrol can be easily purchased from your local store or pharmacy ONLY in countries where it is 100% legal (e.g.Volume. Mexico).
